
Dr Sean Kennedy
Junior Council Member
Dr Sean Kennedy is a post-doctoral researcher in the molecular medicines department of the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) and part time lecturer in physiological biochemistry at Technological University Dublin (TUD). He completed his PhD in both systems biology at University College Dublin (UCD) and The Kinghorn Cancer Centre (TKCC) in Sydney, Australia. The thesis described the complex role of epithelial growth factor receptors in aberrant receptor tyrosine kinase dimerization.
His current research interests are in protein-protein interaction technologies and deciphering the complex systems, influencing cancer therapeutic resistance. During his post-doctoral position, PhD and undergraduate degree he has been involved in various forms of community outreach. This involved primary or secondary school visits and performing fun and engaging experiments, accompanied by crowd participation. He has received Community Links awards for engaging students and instilling a passion for science.
