Claire Hughes is a PhD candidate in the Cancer Biology and Therapeutics lab in University College Dublin, supervised by Associate Professor Antoinette Perry and Dr Susanne Schilling. Claire’s research focuses on investigating the anti-cancer effect of Cannabis sativa bioactive compounds in ovarian cancer. This project aimed to broaden involvement in ovarian cancer research, with a focus on engaging the Bangladeshi community in Ireland, to ensure the patient voice is inclusive and diverse. The impact of this project was recently recognised by the Irish Cancer Society through the PPI Achievement of the Year Award 2024.
